Falakata College was established on 19th September 1981. It is General Degree College in Falakata. It is in Alipurduar District. It offers UG Courses in Arts. It is affiliated to University of North Bengal & enlisted under Section 2(F) & 12(B) of the UGC Act., managed by a Governing Body under the control of Directorate of Public Instruction, West Bengal. The college is situated in Falakata about 1 km from the National Highway 31. The college campus is being divided into two parts, a two-storied new building & the other is the old one-storied building, midst which is a green playground. The college is run by a Governing Body which consists of a President, a University Nominee, the Principal & some teaching & & non-teaching staffs. The present Principal of Falakata College is prof. Hirendra Nath Bhattacharjee. The chair of the President of Governing Body is held by Sri Shyamal Kr. Bhadra a passionate social worker. The college is recognized by the University Grants Commission & affiliated to North Bengal University.
Eligibility Criteria of Falakata UG Courses 1st Year Admission With Merit List – Apply Online for UG Courses Part I Admission Session 2022:
Educational Qualification:
Students who have passed the 12th exam or equivalent examinations from any recognized board are eligible for getting admission in any Degree Course subject to availability of seats in the General stream. Students passing 12th Vocational Course can apply for admission in the I-year General Course of BA. Students passed Patrachar / correspondence courses / Open School are not eligible for admission to the courses offered by the college. Eligibility Criteria For Hons under the NBU 2022-23 For General Category of Students:
a. 55% in the aggregate or
b. 50% in the aggregate & 60% in the subject. For Reserve Category of Students:
a. 50% in the aggregate or
b. 45% in the aggregate & 60% in the subject.
Reservation of Seats :
Students reservation of seats as per Govt. order vide Memo no. 905-TW/EC, dated 12 sept.-1995, 22% are reserved for SC, 6% for ST students & as per Govt. order vide memo no. 83-Edn/(T) 10M-48/14, dated 28.02.2014, 10% are reserved for OBC-A & 7% for OBC-B students including 3% of reservation for Disable students of all categories. All students are required to have the SC/ST/OBC-A&B (Disability Certificate in support of their claim for admission).
Application Process:
Students can take a I-year online admission for 3-years UG Courses in Bachelor of Arts (BA Hons & Gen) from the academic session 2022. Applicants can apply for online application proforma through the college official portal falakatacollege.org.in from the start to closing date of admission.

Merit calculation for Hons Course: Merit Point = 2S+T/6, 2S = Marks obtained in the subject opted for Hons x 2, T = English Marks + Marks obtained in the subject opted for Hons + Best Marks of only other two subjects (excluding the marks secured in Environmental Studies/Science/Education & Marks obtained in the subject opted for Hons).
Example = Merit = 2×60 (Hons subject) + 65 (English) + 60 (Hons subject) + 70 + 75 (Best two subjects) = 2×60+65+60+70+75/6 = 65. Merit calculation for Gen Course: Merit Point = T1/4, T1 = Marks obtained in English + Best of other three subjects (excluding the marks secured in Environmental Studies/Science/Education).
Example = Merit = 60 (English marks) + 75 + 72 + 63 (Best of other three subjects) / 4 = 60+75+72+63/4 = 67.5.
Counselling Date for Admission 2022:
All original documents are needed for verification at the time of admission.
Following Documents are to be verified at the College after Admission:
1. Online applicant’s Registration Receipt.
2. Original of Admit Card of Madhyamik / Equivalent Examination.
3. Original Mark Sheet of HS / Equivalent Examination.
4. Original Migration Certificate in respective of students coming from outside the jurisdiction of West Bengal Council of HS Examination (WBCHSE).
