Honorarium Details: Every applicant must keep in mind that this is not a job opportunity of any kind and earning money is not the purpose of association as Para Legal Volunteers. There is no question of payment of fixed monthly honorarium. However, the honorarium may be allowed as may be permissible after considering the number of days employed and performance and contribution of the Para-Legal Volunteers from time to time.
Duties of Para Legal Volunteers: The Para Legal Volunteers are expected to act as intermediaries bridging the gap between the common people and the Legal Services Institution so that the people can get justice. The Para Legal Volunteers shall educate people specially those who belong to the weaker section of the society to enable them to be aware of their rights to live with human dignity and to enjoy all the legal rights and discharge obligation as per laws. The Para Legal Volunteers shall assist DLSA for organizing legal awareness camps in their area of operation. The duties mentioned above are just illustrative in nature and not exhaustive.

Who can Apply: Any individual who is a permanent resident of Hooghly district and is literate (preferably matriculation) with the capacity for overall comprehension and who do not look up to the income they derive from the service as Para Legal Volunteers but he should have a mindset to assist the needy in the society coupled with the compassion, concern, and empathy for the weaker section of the society.
