CLAT -2018 Age Limit & Relaxation:
In conformity with the judgment of the Supreme Court dated 17.09.2016, the CLAT 2017 Core Committee had restored the upper age limit for CLAT 2017 as under:
♦ Twenty (20) years of age as on 1st July, 2017 for candidates belonging to unreserved categories.
♦ Twenty-Two (22) years of age as on 1st July 2017 for candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC/Specially-abled Persons/Persons with disabilities (SAP/PWD) categories.
♦ CLAT 2018 Core Committee will be continuing with the same age limit till the same is reviewed by the Hon’ble Supreme Court of India.
CLAT 2018: Eligibility for Undergraduate Programs
A candidate should have passed 10+2 or an equivalent exam with the following percentage:
a. 45% marks for candidates belonging to the General/OBC/Specially-abled Persons (SAP) category.
b. 40% marks for the candidates belonging to the SC/ST category.
Any candidate who is appearing in the qualifying examination, i.e., 10+2 in the months of April/May 2018 can also appear for this examination. However, they should be able to produce sufficient evidence to prove that they have passed 10+2 at the time of admission.
CLAT 2018: Eligibility for Postgraduate Programs
LL.B. or equivalent degree in law examination with a minimum of 55% marks in case of General/OBC/SAP categories and 50% marks in case of SC/ST category.
Candidates who will be appearing in the qualifying examination in March/April 2018 will also be eligible for appearing in the CLAT-2018 examination. However, they will be required to produce evidence of their having passed the qualifying examination at the allotted National Law Universities at the time of admission.
CLAT 2018: Application Process
♦ The application form for CLAT-2018 shall be filled Online only.
♦ The online application form has to be accessed from the CLAT-2018 website (www.clat.ac.in).
♦ The candidates are first required to register themselves at the CLAT-2018 online application webpage by using personal e-mail ID and mobile number. To register an application, choose the tab “CLICK HERE FOR NEW REGISTRATION” and enter Name, Email-id and Mobile number. A Provisional Registration Number and Password will be generated by the system. An Email and SMS indicating the Provisional Registration number and Password will be sent. Use this Provisional Registration Number and Password to log in to fill the Online Application.
♦ The Name of the candidate and the parents should be spelt correctly in the application as it appears in the Certificates/Mark sheets/Identity proof. Any change/alteration found may disqualify their candidature.
♦ The application fee for General/OBC/SAP and other category candidates: Rs.4,000/-
♦ The application fee for SC/ST category candidates: Rs.3,500/-
♦ The cost of previous years’ question papers is Rs.500/- (not included in the CLAT-2018 application fee of Rs.4,000/- or Rs.3,500/- as the case may be.)
♦ The candidates themselves will have to bear the bank transaction charges for remitting the fee online
Clat -2018: Syllabus
Candidates are needed to check CLAT 2018 syllabus as it will help them in preparing for the law entrance exam. The syllabus of CLAT 2018 mentions important sections and their topics. Candidates with help of the CLAT syllabus can know the important topics which should be focussed more and the topics that can be left out as they might be unimportant. The CLAT 2018 syllabus mentions topics from different sections–English & Comprehension, General Knowledge & Current Affairs, Elementary Mathematics, Legal Aptitude and Logical Reasoning.
Scope and coverage of questions under different subject areas:
English including comprehension:
The English section will test the candidate’s proficiency in English based on comprehension passages and grammar. In the comprehension section, candidates will be assessed on their understanding of the passage and its central theme, meanings of words used therein, etc. The grammar section requires correction of incorrect grammatical sentences, filling of blanks in sentences with appropriate words, etc.
General Knowledge and Current Affairs:
The General knowledge will be evaluated on the general awareness including static general knowledge. Questions on current affairs will test the candidate’s on their knowledge of national and international current affairs.
This section will test the candidate’s knowledge on elementary mathematics, i.e., maths taught up to 10th Class/Standard.
This section will test the candidate’s interest towards the study of law, research aptitude and problem-solving ability. Questions may include legal propositions (described in the paper), and a set of facts to which the said proposition has to be applied. Some propositions may not be “true” in the real sense, candidates will have to assume the “truth” of these propositions and answer the questions accordingly.
The purpose of the logical reasoning section is to test the candidate’s ability to identify patterns, logical links and rectify illogical arguments. It may include a variety of logical reasoning questions such as syllogisms, logical sequences, analogies, etc. However, visual reasoning will not be tested.
